Social Work programme at the
postgraduate level at VISWASS was introduced in
2004-05 academic session, keeping in view our vision.
It is a common knowledge that students pursuing
traditional academic curricula Arts, Science and
Commerce stream do not find employment suitability in
recent years. In the era of globalization, getting a
suitable job has become a challenge not only to
students but also to the recruiters, both at
Government and Non-government sectors. Realising the
above facts, VISWASS decided to expand horizontally by
introducing some innovative, job oriented professional
on time need based educational programmes without
undermining the quality of teaching, research,
development activities etc.
With the above background, two
professional programmes Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing and
Diploma Nursing) and Finance (Master of Finance and
Control) were introduced in 2005-06 session. Further,
two certificate courses like NGO Administration and
Management, and Computer Application were introduced
under the auspices of the Department of Rural
Management in order to add value and sharpen the
professional skill of the trainees. The academic
structure of VISWASS have been depicted
diagrammatically.
