ANNUAL DAY 2008

The Institute celebrated its second grand annual day on Sunday March 16, 2008 at Rashtra Bhasa Prasar Sabha Ground with great fervour. Eminent personalities like Sj.Manamohan Samal, Minister of Revenue, Disaster Management, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, Dr. Manorama Biswal Mohapatra, Former Professor of Oriya, Dr.Mithias Windisch, Professor of Social Work, Cassel University, Germany and Dr.Narayan Chandra Pati, Professor and Head, P.G.Department of Psychology, Utkal University graced the occasion with their presence.
	The function was inaugurated with the lightening of lamp by the guests. Dr.S.C.Kumar Coordinator (Hon.) welcomed the esteemed dignitaries, guests and students. In his inaugural speech he emphasized that the qualitative aspect will never be compromised in imparting education and the efforts to work for the excluded mass will continue. Mr. Pragyan
Ranjan Gharai, Secretary, VISWASS briefly highlighted upon the crowning achievements of the various departments and their respective faculties. He als said that all efforts were focused towards an updated teaching and learning experiences and to develop the hidden talents of the students to make them real heroes in there work place. Sj Manamohan Samal addressed the gathering and urged the students to continue their efforts to better the condition of the disadvantaged. He also advised that the institution should emphasize on the quality education and to imbibe human values and service attitude in students.Speaking on the function Dr.Manorama Biswal Mohapatra advised students to follow the footprints of Swami
Vivekananda and fulfill the dreams of the nation into reality. She appreciated the efforts made by the students in the sphere of social work. Dr.Mithias Windisch explained the difference subsisting between social work and social sciences and remarked that social workers should put more emphasis on the practical aspect in their learning. Dr.N.C.Pati, General Secretary, Chetna, Bhubaneswar was felicitated with VISWASS Award by Smt.Pratima Gharai, the Chairperson of Sohum World Foundation for his life time contribution towards Child welfare.
“Swayam” - the Annual Report 2008 and students Lab News Paper “Visage” were released by the distinguished guests on the dias.
The Heads of all the three departments, Mr.I.B.Rao, Dept. of Social Work, Ms.Kulveen Kaur, Dept.of Finance and Control and Ms.Anusuya Behera , Dept. of Nursing read out the annual activity report of their respective departments. One outgoing student from each department shared his/her experiences at VISWASS. This was followed by the prize giving ceremony. Prizes were distributed by the honourable Chief Guest, Sj.Manamohan Samal to those talented students who were adjudged best in the fields of academic, sports, co-curricular and cultural events. To make the annual day Celebration a colourful one, the students from the different
	departments organized various cultural events. A dinner party was hosted by the Chairperson of Sohum World Foundation.
